Cooking Without Consequences

During the holidays you may have experienced (or may soon) a phenomenon that I've come to call "Cooking Without Consequences." This occurs when someone in your household, in a flight of holiday fancy, imagines they've been transformed into a Food Channel superstar, or Julia Child. In this fanciful state of mind, a new breed of cooking takes place in your otherwise modest kitchen. Small glass bowls with appropriately pre-measured ingredients are set out in preparation. Large bowls, small implements, and motorized assistants appear for brief appearances in the dance of cooking.
You may experience a soundtrack as well to cover the festive tinkling of glass and metal...which will add to the abandon the cook experiences as they create sugar plums and other delights. But after the gingerbread or apple or pecan wafts away...the curtain will fall, the dessert consumed, and the chef is spent. The camera cuts away for the evening and the spotlights fade...another episode to air another day. Some time passes. More time passes. Perhaps a day even. And when you ask the star about the state of the stage, you'll hear that they cooked! and cannot be expected to clear as well. And then you can take it fully in. The measure of baking creation...every particle of spilled sugar and flour...every single use bowl...every batter-beating paddle and sticky implement. For you see, there is no aftermath for the cook...only for the one who must clean it up.
It distills upon me that this life lesson is a metaphor for how our current liberal government currently runs the kitchen. There are no ingredient budgets, or planning, or recipes beyond the most vague generalities *DELICIOUS FOOD* And they are happy to invite their friends to the demonstration...because they secretly have the finished product in the oven already...this is all for show the sweat of your brow and the flour under your fingernails (looks like French tips!) And when they've had their fill of cake, demolished the kitchen and used up all the tools and implements...they're off to party elsewhere...while the responsible folks are going to be left with a big, big mess. Hold government accountable...and put them on a paper plate & macaroni diet.

How Minorities Rule America

How can 30 states have Republican governors while Democrats seem to be running the circus and the sideshows?
One of the successful strategies of the Left has been to build up a loud super-minority in places that the GOP has given up on...like California. The Left Coast has become a nasty brew pot of some of the most liberal flakes on the planet...and they will tell you that democracy is the best government...power to the people, right? But when they bring an obvious 'right' up for a vote, in home-turf California, and it doesn't get the approval of the majority, is that the end of it? The people have spoken, right? Wrong...especially if you can call the majority bigots or homophobes or racists or whatnot or white or rich or .... Take Prop 8 success in old CA? The majority spoke out and said the definition of marriage is one man & one woman. But the super-minority in the case see this is a simple nuisance, because they believe they deserve to take this right...this privilege away from the Have's. Because now they can march and get in the face of the Have's...and it's WAR. Where we have a real problem though is that this minority can then appeal their case to the left-leaning Supreme Court of the United States beyond their state. Now it seems to me that jurisdiction for a state proposition should die in the state if it cannot pass. SCOTUS should be in the picture only in the case of a dispute between states, or a dispute between the other two branches, or if a state law has been raised as unConstitutional by a suit. But this pack of penguins who failed to strangle ObamaCare in its cradle will be more than happy to weigh in on any other excuse to drive liberalism down our throats. And if they strike down Prop 8 as unConsitutional, they create a precedent. Now there was a time when that precedent meant jurists should consider how cases like this were decided...but now we live in Amerika. The Federal Government has told states that any Federal law trumps. So what is the point of having state law anyway? or local law? The federal government has taken on the role of kingdom...with SCOTUS its vizier. So, a liberal minority in California, or anywhere, can use the court system...take as long as necessary...spend as much as needed...and appeal decisions up the chain until they get the answer they want or a consolation prize... a federal law is established that all states, the majorities, the People must swallow. That's not democracy...that's not a republic. Perhaps we should take a page out of this book and note that sometimes you need to play the long game. The people of California didn't want gay marriage, but they're going to get it anyway...it would have been better to give away the inch before they took the mile. I fear for States' Rights. Our red Governors who refuse to implement the ObamaCare exchanges may bring the whole thing down by failing to fund it (finding out what's in it Nancy.) And oddly enough the passage of "pot's okay" laws by the states challenge the Federal government in a way that Lib overlords don't like...so expect them to move to a national policy in reaction to 'what the People want.' In the meantime, I'll hang out here in Malebolgia and work on strengthening local strictures to keep my area strong. Good luck out there. cross-posted at RedState.com http://www.redstate.com/butteredbiscuit/2012/11/17/how-minorities-rule-america/

God Didn't Answer Your Prayer In November? Wrong.

God answered. His answer was no. Job had a long way
to go before he learned humility. I fear the goats outnumber the sheep but that doesn't mean that I won't make my perimeter, do what I can to make my little patch of earth part of what God wants. And that means I'm continuing to work at the local, state and national level every time there is a choice. And every purchase is a vote if you consider it carefully. We are far from powerless...and with 30 GOP governors, there are ways to make No work. When rape occurs, no means no. When the libs are raping our lands and futures, no means no. I will not compromise what I know is true and right because it makes someone else more comfortable. If my community is a family-friendly environment and some libtards move in and start demanding acceptance...good luck with that. Self-segregation yourself back to San Franciso, Chicago, or whatever blue city suits you most. For out here in flyover country, we work for what we use and we defend our hard won resources with second amendment solutions.

Bar Stool Economics

BAR STOOL ECONOMICS Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100 and they paid the bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this: The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh would pay $7. The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. "Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20." So drinks for the ten now cost just $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free...but what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'. They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay. And so: The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings). The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings). Each of the six was better off than before...and the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. "I only got a dollar out of the $20,"declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man," but he got $10!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!" "That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!" "Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill! And that, ladies and gentlemen, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier. David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D. Professor of Economics University of Georgia For those who understand, no explanation is needed.. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.

Social Climate Change: Save the country by cooling it back off

Cool and comfortable conservative America has been polluted with the hot CO2 of liberalism...choking on the stinking exhaust of the whining voices of takers based mainly NOT in the plains.
Americans must right away stop doing all the things that make our country less habitable for humans...I mean we are all happier in successful family units, with the structure of law, with the nobility of leadership who know humility and honor... We must make sure not to crap where we eat...so listen up libs: You've must not drive your SUV's anti-American eco-agenda out in public. You must include gay lifestyle, white privilege, and the Koran respect for others, Constitutional study, and American heritage in public schools. You must accept an egomaniac in the White House, a corrupted federal justice, and inherently incomprehensibly disabling foreign policy a good guy in the White House, founding principles, and leadership through strength in our world. So no more polluting the airwaves and society at large with your hairy-pit-chick putrid garbage-stink. Pick it up don't pass it up. Expect to put in an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. And plan to take responsibility for yourself and your own decisions...that's only fair (and kinda like survival of the fittest which is natural!) Time to clean up, work hard, and set things Right.

Obama preparing for election court challenge already?

It appears to me that Obama is setting us up.  Through his media we're finding the polls are showing that he's way ahead of Romney.  This must be Forward planning to mask what they must know is going to be a blowout.
If exit polling and actual voting tallies  completely disagree with Obama's misrepresented popularity, it can throw reasonable doubt on the election... giving rise to the possibility that the Supreme Court may have to tell us who the next POTUS is... and we all know that he's stacked that deck.

Obama: On Not Doing It Gorilla Style

Lists of things that might offend our Muslim friends include showing the soles of our feet, shaking hands with the wrong hand, walking between a man at prayer and Medina. Okay...so let's see, what are some thing that offend us? Burning flags, killing our envoys, & taking our cash-for-peace and spending it to build up an armory to destroy us. Somehow these things don't seem to balance.
I think a bit about the Tea Party and what it means for us. When the colonies that would become America were fighting for freedom against England (see movie 'The Patriot') there was a clear distinction between the fighting style of the classically trained British soldiers and the ruthless rabble who fought, effectively, guerrilla-style. Is it hubris? Is it stupidity? To think that a standing Army can just frog march through an area with fresh-pressed redcoats and not expect to be blindsided by a tomahawk wielding freedom fighter... who cares nothing about 'rules of war' because anything's fair when you have nothing left to lose. Now fast-forward a couple hundred years. Who is the empire now? Who assumes that they're untouchable in the face of less-superior weaponry? Who thinks that we don't need to take the gloves off and finish the job quickly because it wouldn't be fair? War should be short and decisive and should have a point. If America is to have any role in the world, we must first lead by example, getting our fiscal house in order, restoring our first principles of freedom and commerce, return to prosperity and plenty and demonstrate why our democracy/republic is a better way. Yes, we are dealing with a people who desire to live like savages...because they don't see something better. However, as Mark Steyn pointed out yesterday on Sean Hannity's radio program, they have no problem adding a cell-phone to their otherwise sixth century existence. The middle east has been a mess for thousands of years. It won't get solved because a single President says 'make it so.' For some reason, Obama is under the impression that his edicts change reality...and from his perspective, maybe it does. But those of us who weren't part of the Choon gang and experimenting with cocaine see things as they really are, not as some drug addled mono-utopian plantationary hell. Beggar on the street? Offer to buy him lunch instead of handing over a fiver. What I mean by this is, we must stop sending cash to these ancient places that our government neither understands or can control. If humanitarian aid is needed, we should send food, water & basics and dispense them ourselves...not through warlords. No more cash. My hope for Romney is that his special skill of gutting broken business will effectively be applied to our out-sized, bloated government. There are entire branches of this welfare state that simply must be stopped. It's time for state and local governments to stop bending to Federal cash and do the right thing for each constituency. If California wants to feed & clothe the world, that is their choice...but it is not their choice to make 49 other states pay for it. Romney should pull the entire contingent of deployments back to Israel, pull our ambassadors from every country that would do us harm, and cut off the cash flow by flooding the market with American energy. We should take up a defensive position at our borders and in our seas and defund the UN.

Liberals' Sliderule Trades Compassion In For Fairness

Trading compassion for fairness...that's what Liberals are pushing our country to do. Rather than think about those who are less fortunate and take care of them, what the Left seeks to do is make government the Providence of the poor and neglected. With
small, unnoticeable contributions by all, those who 'have not' will get what they need. This communal approach to problem-solving relieves them of any responsibility or guilt because the whole of society is responsible. But the whole of society is responsible anyway. The only thing that has changed is how good the Liberal feels about himself. How selfless. As the Fairness spreads out into the government in the form of regulations, red tape, and inefficiency, the belching food stamp factory becomes the very giant nameless, faceless behemoth Lefties blame corporations to be. There can be no exception to the rules because that would be unfair. Food stamps were stolen? Sorry, everyone gets the same amount...you'll have to wait. Macular Degeneration? that is not life-threatening, so you'll need to wait until non-urgent matters are handled. Wait. Wait. There is nowhere else to go, because there is no competition. Wait. Today there is an assault on the 'God-based' GOP. While I disagree with this Liberal assessment, I find it astounding that this is the niggardly word now...the epithet of the enlightened Left. And as Mark Levin pointed out...those are the same Democrats who chant endlessly about 'justified rape' without context and then choose William (BJ) Clinton...accused of sex crimes and misdemeanors as the keynote speaker at the Democrat Convention. Prima Facia. I prefer to trust my own eyes. What I see are Conservatives everywhere quietly taking care of the needy in their family and neighborhood. They contribute by giving of themselves...their time, talent and resources to make the world a better place...and they also expect to reap the reward of their hard labor. Liberals cannot see the difference. They take without asking. They take the fruit of labor at the point of a gun through the power of an overbearing government which continues to gain power and influence the more voters can be enslaved. After all @TheDemocrats believe 'we all belong to government.'

#UnFair2

In response to the racist and outrageous University of Minnesota campaign to raise awareness of "white privilege" I give you the following responses.

Of course these are just stock photos of ordinary people demonstrating facial expressions.  But it is so easy to characterize, incorrectly I might add, anything about people...they will constantly surprise you.  Liberals want you to fit into their tiny definitions and it's why they ultimately will lose because of Hispanic votes.  Conservatives see the long game.

SCOTUS Arizona Decision makes George Zimmerman an Archetype

You can no longer protect yourself and your community with a Neighborhood Watch.  Yep, that's right.  You've got all your neighbors together; you're all in agreement.  Too many break-in's and too many creepers in the area are no longer reason enough to band together and work to help law enforcement catch criminals.
Why not?
Because you are encroaching on government's rule to protect you.
That's right.
We now are living with federal supremacists.  Kind of like those guys in the hoods or the white power bandits or the black power panderers except their extremism based on a combination of theft and enslavement.
Under the banner of freedom, we're witnessing the erosion of sovereignty.  With the Supreme Court's decision which ultimately places federal jurisdiction over... well, everything... there are no longer states, or international borders for our home of the brave.  That's right, the melting pot has reached a boiling point where the pot itself has liquefied and the whole mess is falling into the fire.
So if you're Arizona and you spot a thug up to no good in your neck of the woods, be sure not to chase him down and demand to know why he's there...that's the police's job...and if you stand your ground, even when the cops fail to come, you're in the wrong.
I fully anticipate that Arizona and all her sisters will develop some improved residency requirements...and if your credentials don't get you in the gated community, you'll be escorted off the property...to a state of sanctuary.

It seems to me that those in the federal pantheon seem to forget that it is from the states they derive their authority...and the relationship has gone from uncooperative to antagonistic. By undermining the very foundation of federalism, SCOTUS has invited termites into the foundation.

Unchecked illegal immigration is as destructive as any natural disaster, but a hurricane doesn't vote.

Will state troopers no longer be able to give tickets to speeders on interstate highways?
Will state taxes go away because federal tax supersedes the states' ability to tax?
Will town councils be superseded by the county in which they reside?

Until we return to individual responsibility, sovereignty will continue to disappear.  It won't be long before you cannot have a firearm to protect your home...your castle...because you see it's someone else's responsibility and you're just going to have to wait for the government to decide when it will respond to your needs.  You must wait your turn.  You must eat your peas.  You must endure the break-in.  You must ignore the creepy van.

No.  I will work to provide for me and my kin and I will fight to protect the life we build. That is what made this country great, and I'll be damned if I'm letting it go without a fight.

Deviancy is the new Alcoholism

A great deal of time and scientific research has gone into discovering how people become alcoholics.  Some folks may have a genetic predisposition, or maybe they grew up in a household where binge drinking was commonplace and it's how they learned to cope with life's problems.  Or maybe they just gave in to something they knew was unhealthy for them long-term in trade for a short-term joyride.
In general, the American center perceives alcoholism and a negative thing.  Governments have pushed hard on the greater vices of alcohol, tobacco and firearms.  In general we pity those who find themselves wrecked because of vices and celebrate when they overcome their dependency on alcohol.
Recovering addicts know that the first step to getting better is to recognize they have a problem..then seek help.  Support groups, medication, doctor supervision, even a chip in the pocket as a reminder to stay strong...these are methods that folks use to overcome drug and alcohol addiction.  They celebrate the hours they've stayed strong...appreciate the life they've regained.

And then there's sex.

Our liberal friends would like everyone to believe there is no such thing a deviancy.  Well, have a look around at what has worked in nature since the dawn of time...and then everything else.

America has moved into a spiritually dangerous territory.  Let me prove that by demonstrating how the paragraph on alcoholics above changes in tone when replaced by accepted, previously antisocial behavior.

A great deal of time and scientific research has gone into discovering how people become sexual deviants.  Some folks may have a genetic predisposition, or maybe they grew up in a household where unnatural behavior was commonplace and it's how they learned to cope with life's problems.  Or maybe they just gave in to something they knew was unhealthy for them long-term in trade for a short-term joyride.
In general, the American center perceives non-traditional relationships as a negative thing.  Governments have pushed hard on the greater vices of homosexuality, prostitution, nudism, animal abuse, and other rough-trade.  In general we pity those who find themselves wrecked because of vices and celebrate when they overcome their self-destructive behavior.
Recovering sex abusers & addicts know that the first step to getting better is to recognize they have a problem..then seek help.  Support groups, medication, doctor supervision, even a chip in the pocket as a reminder to stay strong...these are methods that folks use to overcome unnatural sex addiction.  They celebrate the hours they've stayed strong...appreciate the life they've regained.
...

How can you be gay and proud...really.  It's a sad thing.  And repeating that something is okay until you believe it...doesn't make it so.  Ask any gambler with a problem.  Need absolution and can't get it? Maybe Absolut will do (for a while.)

God put us on this earth to learn and grow and evolve.  What needs to happen is not an evolution of thinking about what's acceptable, but how we should be working hard every day to improve ourselves no matter what our mental and physical challenges are.  If gay sex behavior is your vice...then like any other vice you have to accept that it's part of your personality...whatever the reason.  But you don't have to give in to it any more than an alcoholic has to have that next shot of ripple.  BEING gay is not the problem...but why would you let someone else define you...tell you what that means...how to behave...  BEING gay does not have to be a liability or a disability.  It can be set aside as any other vice...you can find a mate and enjoy your own children, one of the greatest blessings of this life.  And maybe just maybe you will figure out that you overcame it and you are better off for it.    Or.    You can give in to your 'alcoholism' and inherit shame.

What you do behind closed doors is your business...not mine...but when you bring it out in the yard, I reserve the right to get the hose.

Public Sector Employment: A Jillion Things To Do

I am getting so tired of hearing out "fewer jobless claims" this week must mean that hiring's improving.  After all this time you would think that people could understand that jobless claims are based on the number of people FIRED, not hired.  Just because you've staunched the hemorrhagic fever sore does not mean that the bleeding has quit or that healing has begun.  These liberals want you to believe that you can determine when gas is going into the car by sucking on the tailpipe...or is that a homophobic insensitivity?

Oh, and the next time someone decries that the benevolent, all-effective big government can be trusted to make decisions that will improve processes...explain to them how roadside mowing works.  You've got government...they're planning to cut the grass along the interstate to make things look great...a wonderful public work.  There is paper along the roadside that will need to be cleared as well during the cleanup.
If you want to get the job done quickly and effectively, you have a crew pick up the paper in advance.
If, however, your goal is to employ folks for as long as possible and give as many people income as possible, it makes much more sense to leave the paper and rubbish, run it down with the mower creating a jillion bits of detritus and to tear up the mower so that it will need to be repaired/repurchased (of course while the crew waits.)
Government does not imbue efficiency on anything.  Create a competitive environment for business to get jobs done and let them bid.  Roadsides get picked up; grass gets mowed; costs are measured and predictable.
In every case, reducing the size of big government means a tighter, leaner, more efficient (less wasteful) government...which translates into lower taxes for everyone. #solved

By the way, why the heck don't liberals employ goats to eat that grass, then eat the goats?
